At the National Forensic League National Tournament, held in Kansas City, Missouri, the week of June 13-18, the CA debate team joined more than 3,200 students from across the country and as far away as China to compete in the tournament. This is one of the largest academic competitions in the world.
Alisha Jarwala ('11) reached the semifinals of Congressional Debate, placing her in the top 60 of more than 230 competitors. Daniel Smith ('11) reached the sixth round of competition in Parliamentary Debate, a supplemental event entered by competitors once they have been eliminated from the main event for which they qualified to attend the tournament. This placed him in the top 100 of more than 550 competitors.
Cary Academy was recognized for attending this event for the 10th time. Cary Academy students have qualified to and competed in every national tournament since 2001.
