Technology plays a key role in our learning community, supporting students and employees alike in the pursuit of discovery, innovation, collaboration and excellence.
Cary Academy is committed not only to putting a rich array of exciting technology resources into the hands of faculty and students, but also to providing the training and technical assistance necessary for them to use these resources creatively and effectively to enhance teaching and learning.
Ultimately, it’s not the technology itself, but how students and teachers are utilizing the technology that makes our learning environment so vibrant and powerful.
Every student at Cary Academy is issued a Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga for school and home use pre-loaded with the Windows 8.1 operating system. Faculty and staff are also issued individual computers. All school computers include access to relevant software, including but not limited to PDF Annotator, graphic and video editing packages, and other curriculum-specific applications.
Our school features a campus-wide wireless network, a networked multi-function printer/scanner/copier system, and wireless projectors or 70” flat panel TVs in all classrooms with wireless projection capabilities. High-speed access to the Internet is provided via a 200MB backbone to our local cable company.
We have adopted Microsoft Office 365, Exchange Online and SharePoint Online as the school’s cloud platform, allowing for any time, anywhere collaboration and sharing.
Additionally, Cary Academy has chosen Veracross as our student information system. Students and parents can log in to Veracross to view class schedules and homework calendars, access grades and report cards, and communicate with teachers and advisors at any time.
Further technology highlights include a state-of-the-art video production facility, a large maker space with 3-D printers, and a new multimedia discovery studio.
