Follow the directions and complete all information requested to begin the application process.
Complete the Family Information Form
The Family Information Form will provide us with contact information for your family, as well as other demographic information.
Submit the Application Fee
The $85 application fee is required with submission of the Family Information Form, and will initiate an applicant record enabling the Admissions Office to assist you with completion of your applicant's application.
Complete the Parent Questionnaire
The Parent Questionnaire will afford the opportunity for you to give details about your interests in our program. You will supply insight into your applicant's personality, interests, strengths, and unique talents.
Schedule the Applicant Shadow and Interview Day
(Please note the visit and interview cannot be scheduled until the Family Information Form and Application Fee have been submitted.)
All applicants are required to visit classes during the school day and complete an applicant interview on the day of the visit. A current Cary Academy student will host the applicant for the visit, and the interview will be conducted by the Admissions Office. Visits to the middle school typically take place from 7:50 am - 11:30 am, and visits to the upper school are usually scheduled on Monday, Tuesday, or Friday from 7:50 am - 1:30 pm. Lunch is provided for upper school visitors.
We strongly encourage the student visit take place within 2 - 3 weeks of submitting the Family Information Form and Application Fee. The visit must take place prior to the January deadline to meet First Consideration. The Applicant Questionnaire must be submitted three days prior to the applicant's visit to Cary Academy.
We recommend scheduling the shadow day as early as possible as spaces fill quickly and we may not be able to accommodate all requests before our first priority deadline.
For families out of the Cary/Raleigh/Durham area, accommodations for the student visit/interview can be arranged. Please contact a member of the admissions team for further information.
Complete the Applicant Questionnaire
All applicants are required to complete the Applicant Questionnaire and encouraged to provide as much in-depth information as possible. The information provided on this form will help us become acquainted with the applicant and assist us in determining how a prospective student can benefit from, and contribute to Cary Academy.
The applicant questionnaire must be submitted three days prior to the scheduled visit and interview day.
Schedule Admission Testing
Cary Academy requires all applicants take the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE). The test date must be scheduled with Educational Records Bureau (ERB). The requested test date must be scheduled 3 weeks in advance with ERB. Special testing accommodations are available, but the test date must be scheduled with ERB 4-6 weeks in advance.
To meet Cary Academy's First Consideration Deadline, the applicant must sit for the ISEE test on or before January 18, 2019. Cary Academy is an ISEE test administration site. Other schools in the Triangle area, as well as, in cities throughout the US and abroad serve as ISEE test sites. An applicant to Cary Academy can test at any ISEE test site.
