During last month’s X Day, members of Cary Academy’s Underrepresented Individuals in Science and Engineering (URISE) club led their second annual STEM workshop at Reedy Creek Middle School—an inspiring, student-driven effort to spark a love of STEM in communities typically underrepresented in the field. Maya Gupta, ’25, Katie Wiater, ’26, Brianna Xin, ’26, Claire Zhong, ’27, Anna Benjamin, ’27, Lingfei Tang, ’27, and Carolin He, ’27 wowed students with hands-on activities like a math escape room, robot car builds, and DIY ice cream. With glowing feedback and big smiles all around, the workshop was a clear success—huge thanks to Ms. Ramey and the Reedy Creek team for making it possible!
