Three Middle School teams have won their CAMSC championships.
On May 9, both the girls and boys Middle School track and field teams won the first CAMS Conference meet.
And on May 11, the boys tennis team repeated as CAMSC champs.

Maddy Walker (’20) and her competitive cheer team, SMOEX, finished third at The Cheerleading Worlds held April 29-May 1 at Walt Disney World in Orlando.
The event is hosted annually by The United States All Star Federation. Walker and her team took home bronze in the senior medium coed category.

At the NCISAA state swimming championships on Feb. 20, the CA girls came in first, and the boys came in second.

Izzy Barnette – reset her school record in the 100-yard freestyle.
Girls 200-yard freestyle relay – reset the school record that was posted at the TISAC conference meet. The record now belongs to Amy Chang, Emma Zayas, Elena Zayas and Isabella Barnette.
Girls 400-yard freestyle relay – reset the school record that was also posted at the TISAC meet. The record now belongs to Helen Chen, Emma Zayas, Nisma Said and Isabella Barnette.
Boys 200 freestyle relay – STATE CHAMPION RELAY and new school record! Relay members are Will Newman, Josh Pullen, Ben Humphries and Ari Kaufman.

At the 18-team NCISAA State Wrestling Tournament held at Cary Academy on Feb. 17-18, two Chargers won state titles.
Earning top individual honors for the Chargers were brothers Julian and Christian Sodano. Christian (’19) toughed out a hard-fought double overtime battle with Wesleyan Christian Academy’s second seed, Cameron Johnson, at the 126-pound weight class and won the first CA state title of the night. Julian (’18) made quick work out of Charlotte Country Day School’s number one-seeded wrestler, Max Spada, at the 138-pound weight class to pick up the second state title of the night.
Joe McDarris (’18), fashioned his way through the 152-pound bracket getting to finals, losing to Charlotte Latin’s senior, Jack Sobel, and finishing as a state runner-up. Chapman Fitzgerald (’18) finished 4th in the 132-pound weight class. Osamah Atieh (’19) finished sixth at the 170-pound weight class. Also finishing 6th for the Chargers were Andrew Lee (’17) at the 182-pound bracket, and Isiah Hoile (’18) at the 195-pound spot.
The CA team once again placed sixth coming within less than 50 points of the top four team spots.

On Feb. 7, the boys and girls swimming teams captured the TISAC championships.
The CA boys have now put together EIGHT straight conference championship titles, which is the longest streak for any CA varsity team in school history, and the CA girls have now put together a string of three championship titles.
Both teams won on depth. Both teams only won one individual event, Isabella Barnette in the 100-yard freestyle and Cory Gibson in the 500 free. In addition, both teams won the 200-yard freestyle relay.
All three girls relays set new school records:
200 Medley Relay: (1:53.39) = Helen Chen, Rachel Marston, Nisma Said, Elena Zayas
200 Free Relay: (1:41.73) = Nisma Said, Emma Zayas, Charlotte Hook, Isabella Barnette
400 Free Relay: (3:41.75) = Helen Chen, Emma Zayas, Charlotte Hook, Isabella Barnette

It’s playoff time for CA in the NCISAA. Team updates:
Golf
For the first time the girls golf team has qualified for states as a team.
The tournament will be held at Whispering Pines Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 24–25.
Field hockey:
Varsity Field Hockey beat Forsyth Country Day School 11-1 in First Round of the State Playoffs.
The CA team takes on Durham Academy next at 4:15 on Oct. 21.
XC
The Cross Country boys and girls teams came into the season as the #3 ranked teams in the state of North Carolina, and they haven’t disappointed! They will look to repeat as TISAC Conference champions and state champions this week and next. The conference championship meet will be held Thursday, Oct. 20, at WakeMed Park with a 4:45pm start for the girls and a 5:30pm start for the boys. The state championship meet will be held Friday, Oct. 28, at Hagan Stone Park in Greensboro.
Tennis:
Varsity Tennis will HOST NRCA at4:30 on Oct. 21.
