Cornerstones
Since its inception, Cary Academy has been both an intentional and innovative organization. Our founders (Jim and Ann Goodnight and John and Ginger Sall) started with a dream about what a school could be at its best. This dream was brought to life when the school opened its doors to its first 244 students in 1997. Since then, the school has gone on to nurture and educate over two thousand students, sending a new class off into the world each year with the benefit of a Cary Academy education.
What the founders, the Board of Directors, and school leadership realized early on was that this incredible resource we call a Cary Academy education doesn’t just happen. It has and continues to require considerable thought, collaboration, evaluation, and diligence to establish, maintain, and evolve this incredible learning community. In pursuit of this, we have created and actively use a number of tools we collectively refer to as the “Cary Academy Cornerstones.” They are not just fancy words dreamed up by a small committee that were then framed and hung on a wall for everyone to walk by unnoticed. Rather, they have become an integral part of our DNA, meant to be a living framework by which we all learn and grow together. Each cornerstone has a specific role in creating a strong yet flexible framework that shapes how we all work side by side on a daily basis.
