Outside Employment

Cary Academy recognizes that you may desire to supplement your income by providing tutoring or private lessons, accepting other employment for compensation, or operating your own business while also employed by Cary Academy. You must have Division Head approval before providing such services or accepting such employment to ensure that these supplemental activities do not interfere with your expected responsibilities and time commitments at Cary Academy and do not represent a conflict of interest.  You may not take paid time off away from your position (other than vacation leave) in order to perform services for Cary Academy or another organization from which you would receive compensation.  You will be judged by appropriate performance standards, and will be subject to Cary Academy’s scheduling demands, regardless of whether you have more than one job.

Cary Academy expects that any other job will not conflict in time or content with your position at Cary Academy.  If Cary Academy determines that your outside employment interferes with your performance or presents a conflict of interest, you may be asked to terminate the outside employment or risk termination from Cary Academy.  Outside employment will present a conflict of interest if it has, or potentially has, an adverse impact on Cary Academy.
